Keeping the kitchen clean is tough. Well, at least it is for me. It seems like the messes are NEVERENDING when you are cooking for a family.
But there are a FEW ways you can make it easier on yourself when you are preparing a delicious meal like my: Easy Clean Up Cheesy Roasted Pizza Potatoes (see the recipe below)!
1. Keep a garbage bowl handy- If you are getting rid of your trash right away, it keeps your counter cleaner and your cooking more efficient. {Tip.. sometimes I just grab a not-too-dirty bowl from the sink for this job. That way I’m not making an additional dirty dish).
2. Make one dish/pot meals- Rather than dirtying up multiple pots, pans, and cooking sheets think if you can combine foods. My Cheesy Roasted Pizza Potatoes are a great example. But you can also roast chicken and bake veggies in the same dish, toss pasta sauce with pasta and heat… Plan ahead, and make less mess.
3. Double your recipes. At first glance, this doesn’t seem like it would make less mess… but if you are cooking less often you are making fewer messes (and saving time!). Put the second half in the freezer or eat it the next day like my family does.
4. Plan your meals and precut the ingredients. Again, as the above tip, it means you are prepping and preparing meal less often. If all the veggies for the week are ready to go in the fridge, you only had to make that mess one time… not five.
5. Use a new Scotch-Brite® Scrubbing Dish Cloth for clean up. These clothes are washable, reusable and sturdy. Plus they have cool textured fibers with scrubbing dots technology on one side. These made my scrubbing a breeze over regular dish cloths. Scotch-Brite Scrubbing Dish Cloths are available in 2 packs in tan, coral, and navy for under $5.00 at Walmart (I paid $4.98).
If you want to try them out make sure to use a $1 off instant redeemable coupon available on Scotch-Brite Scrubbing Dish Cloths (don’t remove the $1 offer from the product before checkout, it will be instantly redeemable at checkout).
