craigslistCraigslist is a veritable bounty of inexpensive, high-quality used items, meaning that there are lots of local buyers who may be willing to buy your items. Not sure how to get started on Craigslist and get as much money as possible? We can help!

One thing to note about Craigslist.  In my opionion a lot of potential buyers can flaky and don’t show up.  This is just how it seems to be.  So if that bothers you Craigslist probably is not your best avenue for selling your stuff.

Good Photography

Taking high-quality photos of the items you’re selling is probably the most important thing you can do for your listings. If possible, use a DSLR and capture your items in natural light to give them a fighting chance on Craigslist.

Great Descriptions

Be succinct and very clear in your descriptions. If there’s anything missing or wrong with your product, tell your customers that! It’s a waste of time for everyone if they show up, notice the mistake, and leave without taking the item. By telling your customers what they’re getting and what it can do for them, you can get items off your hands quickly.

Delivery Options

If you’re selling a large item, offering delivery in a certain radius can make people more likely to take the plunge and buy. You can charge extra for delivery or give them the option of picking it up themselves for free.

Accurate Title

In your listing title, be sure to have the item, the manufacturer, and any key characteristics (color, size, condition, etc.). This allows people who are scrolling through quickly to see if your listing is what they’re looking for. Avoid unnecessary words, “click here!” and other clickbait titles, or too-long titles.

Set Up Delivery Fast

If someone’s interested in your item, awesome! Set up delivery as quickly as possible. If they fall through or bail (which can happen on Craigslist), you don’t want to have wasted a week during which you could have found other buyers. Give them a time frame during which they can pick up the item, at which point you’ll move on to the next customer.
